shopping with modcloth

modcloth recently reached out to me and asked if i'd be interested in putting together a little polyvore collage featuring their gorgeous twirl next door dress and i couldn't help but jump on board. modcloth is such a fun brand, with so many amazing and unique pieces, and it doesn't hurt they are based in my all-time favorite city-- pittsburgh. i own a couple modcloth pieces (i just bought these saltwater sandals a few weeks ago!) and whenever i'm in need of a fun new dress, i know right where to go to. this summer i'm all about the floral patterns (i love this one). i like a dress i can get a lot of use out of because i don't have the budget to have "fun" dresses and "work" dresses.

this dress is perfect because it could easily be styled in a 9-5 look for work or dressed up for a night out. you could pair it with these gorgeous earrings and these bright colored flats for the office, and then throw on your sunnies and grab this girly clutch as you head out the door to meet your girlfriends for happy hour. what do you think? how would you style this black + white beauty?

have a great week! <3

celebrate spring with adore me

so in case you've missed it, adore me has released an amazing spring collection. it's inspired by beautiful bright colors and fantastic floral patterns. i absolutely love working with this brand and every time i see a package from them in my mailbox i get excited. there's just something about pretty and feminine lingerie that makes a girl feel good about herself.

i ordered the jolee push-up because hello it's turquoise. if you know me at all by now, you know that this color is number one in my book. i couldn't help but start thinking of some fun color combinations for the upcoming spring season, and i've officially decided that turquoise and orange is it. and since i know the entire world is hinging on my color and fashion decisions, you're welcome, everyone.

if you're new to adore me, be sure to take their style profile quiz to help figure out which set is the best for you and your body type. and don't forget, they do free shipping (!!!) and exchanges if you need to swap out your set for a new size.

i'd love to hear what sets you all like best. let me know which are your faves!

shopping with dress sale

with spring hopefully around the corner, it's time to start talking shoes. it is most likely that your feet have not seen the light of day in many months and if you're like me, you need some fresh inspiration. i've been wearing knee-high black boots for waaay too long now. i'm excited for pretty heels and colorful sandals. when it comes to shoe shopping, i'm definitely not one to break the bank. i'd rather have a large (maybe a tad bit excessive. oops) shoe collection than one expensive trendy pair. dressale is an online shop, that despite it's name (ha) is actually killing it in the shoe department. they are more than ready for spring 2014 and i thought i'd put together a little (or huge. whatever) list of some of my favorites. check it out and tell me which ones you like, too!

1// Pure Color Round Toe Cone Heel
10// Pointy Toe Side Open Flats

wanna know the best part? every single shoe in this list is under $50! it's awesome. be sure to check out their site. i can't wait to stock up on some fun pairs for this spring. what are you most excited to wear this season? i'd love to hear. and happy shopping!

hint of spring

saturday afternoons are my absolute favorite. today, i got to wake up after 10 am, make eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, and go for a run. the sun was shining and the temps were in the 60s (!!!). can you believe it? i don't know if this is some kind of global warming situation happening right now, but it feels like spring and i am way more than okay with this. i've been experiencing extreme lack of inspiration with all of these dreary winter days and a dose of vitamin d made me feel a million times better.

it didn't hurt that i checked my mail yesterday and had a lovely package from my sponsors over at persunmall. when i picked out this emerald green dress from their site, it was hard not to order it in every color. the fit is perfect, and i love the three-quarter length sleeves. it can be dressed up for work or dressed down for a day out and about. and the best part-- the length! i have the hardest time finding dresses that don't become shirts after one wash (that's what being 5'8" does to ya). but this hits right above the knee. perfecto.

the also sent me this necklace. if you don't know by now, i'm obsessed with all things turquoise. and just a bonus-- it's only $2.99. i mean come on, you can't beat cute accessories for great prices. my jewelry collection is getting a little out of hand, but when you can find cute pieces like this for next to nothing, i just can't resist.

guess what i'm doing tonight? going to a ball. doesn't that sound fancy? it's a ball celebrating the founding of american university (where i work) and a bunch of girls in my office signed up to help out. we'll have to check people in, take coats, etc. but i'm guessing we will get some free time to eat yummy food and dance, not to mention we get to dress up! i'm really loving my new job so far. the first month has been great and i feel so lucky to enjoy what i spend most of my days doing.

hope everyone can get out this evening and have a fun saturday night! you deserve it. :)

valentine's day with adore me

there's officially only a week left until valentine's day! i'm not always super into this (somewhat) cheesy holiday but sometimes you just need to put on something pink, eat heart-shaped candy, and surround yourself with pretty flowers. i mean is that such a crime? i know valentine's day can be a little bit on the materialistic side and yes, it is absolutely correct that you should show your loved ones that you care 365 days a year, not just february 14. but man, v-day gets some hate. weather your dating, married, single, whatever-- grab something sweet and give it to someone you care about. and bam, you'll have a good day. that's all it takes!

and going along with the spirit of valentines day, i'm excited to announce a new collaboration with adore me official; an amazing lingerie company based in new york. when dylana, of color me nana, reached out to me about working together, i couldn't have been more ecstatic. she is a huge blogging inspiration of mine, and i've followed along with adore me since she started working for them. they sent me this beautiful set and it was just in time for valentine's day ;)

the holiday of looove definitely makes you think a little bit extra about what's going under your clothes; whether it's to feel good about yourself or to impress that someone special. i'm usually pretty simple when it comes to my undies (i would rather spend more on what's going on the outside), but this brand couldn't be more suited for a bargain shopper like me. there's free shipping and returns, plus they have sets under $40, for all body types. talk about a good deal. and you know i can't resist those. read some reviews here, and if you've ordered from them, leave some kind words about your experience!

speaking of good deals, adore me is offering one of their instagram followers 3 of their gorgeous lingerie sets and many other awesome prizes. to enter, all you have to do is:
  • post a valentine's day themed selfie on instagram
  • tag the photo #adoremelove and @adoremeofficial
  • caption the photo with you love most about yourself
how easy is that?! i mean getting free goodies for posting a selfie? sounds like the perfect world to me. you have until february 14 to enter. happy instagraming!

cheetah girl

i officially had my last college final yesterday night. it's so hard to believe that i'm done. after three and half long, hard, and challenging years i am completely done with my undergraduate career. i truly can't believe it. tomorrow is my last day at work, then anthony is driving up to move me out. we're planning on going out with some friends on thursday to celebrate before i leave the city. i don't know what it's going to feel like not to live in pittsburgh anymore because i've grown and accomplished so much since moving to this city as a silly little 18 year old high school graduate.

when i was in high school all i wanted was to go to college in new york city. i wanted to move away from my small little hometown and go to a college some place fun and exciting and study writing. but in case you weren't aware, new york city is a verrrry expensive place (who knew?) and pittsburgh is a tad bit (a lot) more affordable. i applied to my school here because the application fee was free and i thought, what the heck? a few months later, i was touring the campus, exploring downtown, and falling in love with my university and pittsburgh. i moved in that fall and never looked back.

i have learned so much in the past three and a half years, not just about school and what i'm studying, but about life i've learned that some friendships are meant to last forever, while some are more temporary because people change and move on and there is nothing wrong with that. i've learned about living with roommates and how it can be crazy, annoying, and fun all at the same time. i've learned that everyone makes mistakes, but it's best not to dwell on the past. i've learned that if you love someone enough, it doesn't matter how far away they are or how often you see them, you will make it work, because they're worth it.

there's so much that can be said about your college experience and i wouldn't change a thing about mine. i've worked at gold's gym and starbucks, i've taken classes i've loved and classes that made me want to drop out, i've had internships all over the city that taught me more than i ever could have expected. i learned about my love for graphic design, social media, and web development and couldn't be more ecstatic to have actually gotten a job in my desired field. as i move on to the next stage in my life, i will close this chapter with nothing but kind words and satisfaction for the last three and a half years of my life.

i'm happy and sad to be moving away from this amazing city, but am excited to live and experience washington, dc and have the opportunity to fall in love with a new city all over again. sorry to get all sappy and personal on you, it's just been a whirlwind lately and i'm so happy that i have this little corner of the internet where i can share all of my thoughts with you guys. as always, thanks for reading (and i hope you like my outfit).

shopping with sammy dress

happy monday, folks. it was a snowy weekend here in pittsburgh and i'm not going to lie... i kind of enjoyed it. i know, i know, i just mentioned in my last post that i wasn't ready for winter weater, but the snow was so pretty and fluffy and i totally loved it. ha. i've been keeping warm in tons of cozy knits. sammy dress is a great online shop that has awesome clothes (and so many great sweaters) at amazingly low prices. their site has sweet weekly deals and a kick ass clearance section (two of my fave parts about shopping!) they are a new sponsor of this little blog of mine and i just wanted to share with you some of my fave pieces from their newest collection. check it out!

let me know what your fave pieces are from their site. there's so many goodies to chose from. happy shopping!

shape up

happy monday! and for once, this monday is actually a happy one ha. it's the first day of my week off (!!) for thanksgiving break. i couldn't be more excited to spend the day with anthony. we plan on watching movies, going on a frozen yogurt run, and eating leftovers. we have lots because yesterday we decided to make a little thanksgiving feast. we are both going home to celebrate thanksgiving with our own families, but still wanted to celebrate together. we made so many yummy things. check out my instagram for some pics!

a little while ago, this great website chicnova reached out to me about working together. after browsing their site, it was pretty obvious that they were right up my alley. fun prints, cute sweaters, etc. i couldn't wait to get my hands on some of their items!! my first pick was this geometric patterned cardigan. it's quirky and light and the perfect thing to throw on before i run out of the door to class.

i'm in love with all of the crazy shapes and the cool sleeves. it goes great with a slouchy tee and some simple jeans. i wore this to the mall the other day with anthony to get a head start on some christmas shopping! i can't believe that it's exactly one month til christmas! how crazy is that? have you started your christmas shopping? so much to do, so little time!

i won this great black & gold necklace in a giveaway through delightfully tacky! giveaways are so fun and i won five awesome pieces from juicy dealz. they have new items all the time and at great prices. i felt so lucky to receive so many awesome jewels. and again, i couldn't resist from my favorite combination, black and brown. although i love color, sometimes i just want to wear all neutral colors. and of course no comfy outfit is complete without glasses. (they're fake, shhhhh...)

hope everyone has a great week. happy almost thanksgiving, y'all!

indian summer

last week i had the awesome opportunity to team up with my amazing friend and photographer katya for a fun little photoshoot. we met up and hopped on the bus to lawrenceville, one of the coolest little neighborhoods outside of downtown pittsburgh. kat had a great location in mind and we were off to start our adventure! our first priority was a cool drink so we went to this awesome little place called 720. i'm not kidding when i say that they sell records, clothing, and coffee in this one little shop! i browsed around and drank my iced chai while kat set up her equipment. it was my first time there and definitely won't be my last!

then it was photo time! we stopped by some cool railroad tracks to snap some pics on the way to this super amazing beautiful incredible colorful mural. it's painted under an overpass and it is just so stunning. in it's entirety it depicts lawrenceville and it's just so damn cute. i think i've mentioned it before but i love street art! and this is one of the coolest pieces i've ever seen.

pittsburgh is experiencing a full-blown indian summer right now! last week/weekend, the temperature stayed in the 80s every. single. day. i've already said my goodbyes to summer and was getting in the fall spirit, so this weather was a little unexpected. i'm hoping fall will be in full swing this week. my weather app says 60s and sunny, so lets see if they got it right!

i looove me some layers and this combo was so fun. i got this blouse from forever 21 last year and it's just the perfect neutral staple in my wardrobe. you can't go wrong with simple and solid black. but there are these cute little sequins on the collar to spice it up a bit! for some reason, fall encourages me to style more mens-wear inspired pieces. i love buttoning my shirt all the way up and pairing it with cardigans or sweaters. a great pair of denim shorts are also essential for autumn. this high-waisted pair will stay front and center in my closet all season. pairing them with tights helps you beat the chilly weather and gives you a break from wearing pants everyday! i'm so excited for fall fashion and all of the fun outfits that are in store.

another staple that comes with mens-wear inspired looks is loafers. i'm so thankful for the person who decided loafers were not just for guys in suits! they are so fun and classy. these beauties were sent to me by duo.  they are a company based in the uk, but recently launched their website in the us. they have amazing boots, flats, heels, and even handbags. the pieces are incredible! i'm wearing the jagger loafers in black (with studs of course!) they are comfy and cute, and easy to dress up or down. be sure to check out their site!

i had so much fun working with kat and am so happy with how this photos turned out. girl's got skills! you can check out her kick ass website here. collaborating and supporting local artists is so much fun. it also didn't hurt that when we were done shooting, we headed over to happy hour at round corner cantina for yummy drinks and chips + salsa! what a great way to end a hard days work. ;)

thank you to everyone for reading and supporting this little blog of mine. i couldn't ask for anything more. <3
